16th December 2020 - Royal Mail has joined
forces with a consortium of established UK drone
companies including DronePrep, Skyports and fast-growing
tech firm what3words to arrange an initial drone delivery
to a remote lighthouse on the Isle of Mull this month.

16th November 2020 - Challenges posed by Covid-19
are accelerating the willingness to embrace drone technology
and the UK is leading the way, according to a new European aerospace study.
Almost four-fifths of UK aerospace companies are convinced that disruption in

9th November 2020 - Windracers has been selected
by Innovate UK to trial an innovative and fast UAV drone
transportation service as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic.
The aim is to transport medical supplies and equipment to St Marys
NHS, Isles of Scilly from mainland Cornwall in only 30 minutes.

14th September 2020 - Retailing giant Tesco
is trialling the delivery of grocery orders by drone.
Set to fly at a height of 80m at 50mph, the UAS will be
able to deliver a weight of up to 4kg.

19th August 2020 - Greater
Manchester Police department has just released drone footage that shows
a unique new use-case scenario: Using a thermal camera to monitor a
large gathering breaking local rules requiring social distancing due
to COVID-19.

4th August 2020 - Associated British Ports, one of the UK's
leading port operators, has decided to adopt UAS technology to support
its asset management practices and policies following an 18 month trial which was
guided by management consultant PWC.
|

31st July 2020 - Unmanned aircraft
developed by the helicopter manufacturer, Bristow, will
be deployed at weekends in a trial to support both maritime
and mountain rescue missions initially in North Wales. The trial gives the potential
to help coastguard teams save even more lives.

21st July 2020 - The Home Office and the Department
for Transport invest a further £1.5m in the Defence and Security Accelerator competition
to help industry and academia to deliver world-leading counter-drone
solutions in the UK.
This DASA competition provides an immediate opportunity to help
develop critical counter-drone technical capabilities and solutions.

20th July 2020 - Flying Movies is proud to be
commissioned by the Bluebell Railway to film their re-opening
event on Friday 7th August. Steam-hauled trains
will run from Sheffield Park, through to Kingscote, via Horsted
Keynes and back five times during the day starting at 9am.
|

10th July 2020 - As the NHS celebrates
its 72nd birthday, Skyports has started a trial flying
drones BVLOS to deliver medical supplies and clinical tests in Scotland.
Flight time from the Isle of Mull to Oban was 15 minutes compared to a
road journey and 45-minute ferry crossing.

7th July 2020 - It has been reported that
Police Scotland is hunting for a drone pilot who was close to
colliding with a light aircraft at Perth Airport. The Police
stated that the light aircraft was flying above Murrayshall when
the near-miss happened. The location is about 1.5km from the airport
well within the flight restriction zone.

27th June 2020 - Between the showers, Flying Movies successfully
filmed some of the Bluebell Railway's senior management team walking
4.8 miles to complete the Virtual Track Trek. The money raised
(so far over £6,000 and counting) will go towards the Emergency Fund
to keep the railway financially viable as it hopes to re-open on 7th August.

25th June 2020 - Flying Movies has been commissioned
by a Multi Academy Trust to carry out a roof survey
as part of their due diligence process.

17th June 2020 - Scottish brewer and operator BrewDog
will start using drones to deliver its beer to various locations
on its campus in Columbus, Ohio, and is looking into using this
method for its delivery service in the UK, potentially starting in July.
|

|
15th June 2020 - According to the Lancashire Telegraph,
a man in Blackburn went to investigate why the power in his house had
gone out. On reaching the living room he discovered that the drone battery
that he had put on charge, had burst into flames. A big
lesson for those who charge batteries with inappropriate, unattended chargers.

12th June 2020 - The CAA has today published a new edition of CAP 1789
The New European UAS Regulations: General Outline. This document has been updated
following the delay to the new European Union UAS regulations which now become
applicable in the UK on 31 December 2020. The amendments are mainly dates, though
some further clarification about separation distances has been added for the A2 Open
category

11th June 2020 - Altitude Angel and Inmarsat,
both world leaders in their respective fields, today
announced they are working together to provide
advanced flight tracking and management capability for
UASs, with an eye to facilitating more widespread BVLOS operations.

10th June 2020 - The current Covid-19 pandemic may
be the catalyst for more widespread drone delivery services. The University of
Southampton is involved in a Department for Transport trial
delivering medical supplies and test samples between the Isle of
Wight and the mainland.

9th June 2020 - US-based consulting
firm Booz Allen Hamilton finds that the market-dominating Chinese giant DJI Systems
does not covertly send any data or imagery back to their base in China or to any
other unexpected third party, according to their recent report

5th June 2020 - CAA announces a delay
to the implementation of the new EU drone regulations
until 31st December 2020. This means the current
PfCO system will be in place until then, after which the 3 new
categories of operations and new regulations and certification
for operators will kick in.

30th May 2020 - Flying Movies has been commissioned by Kent
Wildlife Trust to carry out an aerial roof survey of the Jeffery Harrison
visitor centre at their Sevenoaks reserve.
|
|
|
